How a research stream gets built.
VC18z Research runs 7 standing streams. Each one is a pipeline, not a newsletter: sourced live, argued against itself, and held to a signal list written before the conclusion.
Pipeline
Five steps, every stream.
Scope the stream
A stream opens only when we can name the value question it answers — where margin settles, who gets disintermediated, what breaks the thesis. No stream is opened because a sector is loud.
Pull live sources
The desk queries timestamped material on every run: technical press, community signal, and market data. Anything the agent uses is cited inline; anything it cannot find, it says it cannot find.
Pressure-test the claim
Each claim is re-run against its inverse. If the counter-argument survives, it goes into the note as the bear case rather than being edited out.
Fix the signal list
Every stream commits to four observable signals in advance. That is what makes a note falsifiable instead of decorative.
Publish and revise
Standing notes hold the thesis; blog posts carry the running argument. When a signal moves against us, the note is revised in public with the date attached.
